Guitar Hero Greatest Hits Announced
An announcement by Activision that Guitar Hero Greatest Hits will be coming soon has been welcomed by many wii console gamers who have enjoyed the original game. So, what is Greatest Hits and what can we look forward to? This is actually something fans have been waiting for, for a long time. Some great songs appeared on the first few Guitar Hero's on Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero: Rocks the '80s and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. There was a major change to the franchise in the release of Guitar Hero World Tour: support was added for up to four players, each of whom could play the parts of a full band. The idea is that Greatest Hits is our chance to experience many of the greatest songs Guitar Hero showed off in the past but with new-found full band support and improved online play. There will also be certain changes made to the way users played the songs on guitar in the past.
The complete setlist will have about 48 songs in total. All of these will be master tracks, which is a big change: in GH and GHII especially, almost the majority of the songs in the main setlist were covers. Also, developer Beenox will be adding recent functionalities such as the touch slide bar, and also the hammer-ons, three-note chords, sustained notes and other mechanics that were not utilized in the original Guitar Hero. Paul Gabois of Beenox has assured that many of the songs will likely be much harder than we remember them.
We have only heard some of the titles mentioned so far. Eight of the game's 48 songs have been officially announced and these are: "Them Bones"(by Alice In Chains), "Killer Queen"(by Queen), "Nothin' But A Good Time"(from Poison), "Killing In The Name"(as made famous by Rage Against The Machine), "I Wanna Rock"(from Twisted Sister), "I Love Rock N Roll"(as made famous by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts), "Barracuda"(by Heart), and "Through Fire And Flames" by Dragonforce.
We can expect Guitar Hero Greatest Hits to be be hitting the Xbox 360, Wii, Playstation 3 and Playstation 2 this June. Rumour has it that the Xbox and PS3 versions will retail for $59.99 while the Wii's will be $49.99 and the PS2's $39.99. It may seem absurd to some people that so many Guitar Hero games are being released in such quick succession, but GH fans are going to love it across the board and will be queuing up to buy this as soon as it is released. They love these games and are eager to try new ones so a new installment is always welcome. You should expect to see this latest adventure in playing guitar in June.

Dead Space Will Be Coming To The Wii Console – soon
The game called Dead Space is a survival horror action game. Originally released on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC last year it has been a very successful game with consumers. The game borrowed a lot of ideas from other console games such as Resident Evil, Metroid Prime, and Alien to give us something that was positively frightening, yet great fun and very rewarding in gameplay. Players took on the role of Isaac Clarke, who, while he was maneuvering in outer space, responded to a distress call. It turns out that the ship that sent the signal is now littered with mutants who attack you at every corner, and it's here that the game's great combat mechanics come into play, in the form of intense fights and a system that allows for strategic dismemberment of the parts of enemies. It's no surprise that the announcement of Dead Space: Extraction for Wii was met with a lot of excitement and anticipation.
Before you get too excited about Extraction there is something you should know, however. As a game, it's not entirely like it's Xbox 360, PS3 and PC counterpart. In fact, strictly speaking, it's not even a survival-horror and you will discover it's an arcade-style on-rails shooter. That means that that both the camera and movement is controlled by the game itself, and it's the player's job to shoot the enemies onscreen. Now, granted, this isn't exactly what the fans had expected, but glimpses of the game so far have shown the game to be promising in the standards of the kind of shooter it turns out to be.
The developers claim that Extraction implements every mechanic the original was known for, not just strategic dismemberment but also stasis, telekinesis, and zero gravity. Simply aim and press the Stasis button to use that feature, and dismemberment too is self-explanatory: fire at different limbs to cause enemies to trip, stumble, etc.
You will also find that Extraction features an entirely new weapon known as the Arc Welder, which fires bolts of electricity that can arc between enemies and do extensive damage depending on how many monsters are in sight. There are other weapons exclusive to the game, but their names and abilities have not currently been disclosed to us fans.
A lot of gamers will most likely be very cautious at this point. On the one hand, it could be a quality game that the creators have decided should be an on-rails game for the sake of sheer variety. On the other hand, perhaps they are going the rail shooter route in order to capitalize on Dead Space's popularity without having to put too much effort into the overall game? It seems we'll have to wait until it's release sometime later this year to check Extraction out and decide for ourselves.
