While developing, this product of the Japanese video entertainment giant , Nintendo, used to be known under the codename 'Revolution'. Although later on the name was changed to 'Wii', the seventh generation gaming console, which has made waving our hands around a certified way to have fun, has beyond doubt proved revolutionary in many respects.

With the price that it is for, the free Wii Sports games you get with it and the variety of games that range from fitness games, to first person shooters and of course a selection of Supper Mario games, there is a very wide spectrum of people that the Wii appeals too; including people like my mother.

Now, here in this brave new age, Nintendo have picked themselves up and dusted themselves off, surviving the same storm that pretty much sunk their main 80's rival Sega, along with many others. Playstation and X-Box may have 'Halo' or 'Assasin's Creed' but Nintendo has the family image still. While Playstation owners were beating each other to a pulp on 'Tekken', spilling blood and gore on 'Resident Evil' or selecting the 'bounce' option on a female character's...um...lady bumps in 'Dead or Alive' Nintendo were racing go-carts, throwing turnips at ghosts and generally providing a very sanitised, clean option.

There has even been a number of occasions when I have gone to a friend's family event the same has happened. The great thing is that a lot of the games get you moving about and doing something; which is surprisingly fun! Admittedly, half the time you look quite silly, but in a party situation everyone has a go and so everyone feels equally silly, and you all end up in hysterics!

It could be said that sometimes following the comical attempts of the player trying to get the moves right can make one laugh even more that playing itself. Therefore, the name of the Wii gaming console which is among other things meant to symbolise having fun together, has proved quite suitable.
