The Older Generation Like The Wii Too
Thge wii games console has introduced a whole new generation of people to gaming having moved beyond the teenage male market that was previously the typical games console user.
Now, it seems that an even older generation are discovering the wii. They are finding that the fun and health benefits of the wii bundled with activity games are helping them stay active. More and more activity organisers are discovering that the elderly are able to enjoy playing the wii games and getting some active exercise while playing them.
Many residents of care homes are limited in the physical activities they can take part in but playing games on the wii means they can play tennis, bowling or even boxing without the excessive stresses these sports place on the body in real life. When you play tennis on the wii you only need to wave your arms and the controller about and this makes it far less strenuous than running around a court hitting a real ball with a real racquet.
Games on the wii do keep you moving and encourage your blood flow and quicken your breathing but it is not excessive and the elderly playing games on the wii and enjoy keeping active and alert. This would have been unimaginable only a few years ago and it shows how things have changed since the introduction of the wii games console.
