Guitar Hero Greatest Hits Announced
An announcement by Activision that Guitar Hero Greatest Hits will be coming soon has been welcomed by many wii console gamers who have enjoyed the original game. So, what is Greatest Hits and what can we look forward to? This is actually something fans have been waiting for, for a long time. Some great songs appeared on the first few Guitar Hero's on Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero: Rocks the '80s and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. There was a major change to the franchise in the release of Guitar Hero World Tour: support was added for up to four players, each of whom could play the parts of a full band. The idea is that Greatest Hits is our chance to experience many of the greatest songs Guitar Hero showed off in the past but with new-found full band support and improved online play. There will also be certain changes made to the way users played the songs on guitar in the past.
The complete setlist will have about 48 songs in total. All of these will be master tracks, which is a big change: in GH and GHII especially, almost the majority of the songs in the main setlist were covers. Also, developer Beenox will be adding recent functionalities such as the touch slide bar, and also the hammer-ons, three-note chords, sustained notes and other mechanics that were not utilized in the original Guitar Hero. Paul Gabois of Beenox has assured that many of the songs will likely be much harder than we remember them.
We have only heard some of the titles mentioned so far. Eight of the game's 48 songs have been officially announced and these are: "Them Bones"(by Alice In Chains), "Killer Queen"(by Queen), "Nothin' But A Good Time"(from Poison), "Killing In The Name"(as made famous by Rage Against The Machine), "I Wanna Rock"(from Twisted Sister), "I Love Rock N Roll"(as made famous by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts), "Barracuda"(by Heart), and "Through Fire And Flames" by Dragonforce.
We can expect Guitar Hero Greatest Hits to be be hitting the Xbox 360, Wii, Playstation 3 and Playstation 2 this June. Rumour has it that the Xbox and PS3 versions will retail for $59.99 while the Wii's will be $49.99 and the PS2's $39.99. It may seem absurd to some people that so many Guitar Hero games are being released in such quick succession, but GH fans are going to love it across the board and will be queuing up to buy this as soon as it is released. They love these games and are eager to try new ones so a new installment is always welcome. You should expect to see this latest adventure in playing guitar in June.
